What can the SENCO do to help?   Back to First Page   What is Early Years Action Plus?

What is Early Years Action?

Children at Table
It may be that your child needs further help for him or her to make progress. Early Years Action is when the SENCO collects more information about your child. This may include additional information from you and other people working with your child. The SENCO should write down what you have agreed about your child's special educational needs. This is called an Individual Education Plan (IEP).
IEPs usually include:
Bullet Point
Up to 3 or 4 targets in areas where your child needs extra help.
Bullet Point
Suggestions for early years staff about activities and ways of playing and working with your child.
Bullet Point
People or equipment needed to help with this.
Bullet Point
A date to meet to review progress and plan again.
Bullet Point
Things you can do with your child to support them.
Children who have made considerable progress may no longer need support at Early Years Action.
