Our Volunteers

Norfolk Parent Partnership has a team of Independent Parental Supporters (IPS)

They are skilled volunteers who have completed our dedicated training course, which is accredited by the Open College Network.

They also receive ongoing training and support from the Norfolk Parent Partnership team.

This is the support they can offer you:

  • help with issues related to your child’s education
  • help you to be fully involved as a partner in your child’s education
  • listen to your concerns and help you to express your views

our volunteers

  • help you to access relevant and up-to-date information
  • explain about assessment and statementing
  • explain procedures and choices
  • help you to fill in forms, write letters and reports
  • go with you to meetings.

If you would like to know more please contact us for a confidential chat, to see how we can help you and your child.

Role of the Special Educational Needs Caseworker

SEN Caseworkers work for the Local Authority, they:

  • oversee the Statutory Assessment process
  • attend and process Annual Reviews
  • process funding requests
  • request specialist placements
  • make transport requests
  • amend statements.

Caseworkers check and discuss what goes into a statement and make referrals and recommendations for placements. They advise, support, inform, mediate and liaise. Most decisions are made by a Local Authority Panel.

If you have a concern about your statement speak to your caseworker and/or contact Parent Partnership.

Applying for Statutory Assessment?
If you wish to request a Statutory Assessment, write to the local SEN Area
Office. Ring Parent Partnership on 01603 704070 to get the address.
